About

Come and walk with me between my garden and poems. Help yourself to zucchini, parsley, raspberries. Notice all the different kinds of bees nectaring on the Joe Pyeweed. If we are lucky, we might catch a glimpse of Bombus Affinis, the endangered Rusty Patched Bumblebee.

Tarry awhile. We’ll wander by the banks of the Minnesota River. Scat, feathers, bones: this little tract of wild shelters infinite sources of astonishment. Unexpected wild, across from an international airport, between freeways and urban sprawl. Not a pristine wilderness, yet an example of how nature finds ways to carry on despite human meddling, to thrive in our midst.

Cross-country skiing, biking, playing pickleball, hiking, I love to be in motion. Bug whisperer, I have a particular affinity for insects and love to observe them up close.

My hands have a mind of their own and I am often making something – knitting, crocheting, sewing, drawing.  For the past 33 years I have been a first grade teacher for the Minneapolis Public Schools.
